Minister of Employment, Business and Self-Employment of the Government of Andalusia

Born in Córdoba in 1966, Rocío Blanco joined the Andalusian Government in 2019 under the presidency of Juanma Moreno to lead policies related to Employment, Vocational Training, and Self-Employment. She consolidated this role during the second term, overseeing the Ministry of Employment, Enterprise, and Self-Employment, a position she continues to hold.

During this time, the Ministry has reactivated Vocational Training for Employment, led a process of automation and administrative simplification, and focused on incentivizing SMEs and self-employed workers in Andalusia.

A graduate in Law from the University of her hometown, she entered the Labor and Social Security Inspectorate in 1993. In 1997, she was appointed Provincial Director of the Social Institute of the Navy in Málaga, a position she held until 2012 when she took on the role of Director of the General Treasury of Social Security in Málaga. In this role, she managed, among other challenges, the process of regularizing domestic workers into the general regime, granting payment deferrals to companies, and combating fraud. Notably, three years later, she was awarded the Cross of Police Merit for her efforts in the fight against fraud.
