I Euro-American Silver Economy Congress

Why do we organize this Congress?

The Silver Economy, which is defined by the EU as the set of products and services designed to meet the needs of consumers over 50 years of age, will generate 32% of Spanish GDP in 2025, which means, according to the growth forecast by the Bank of Spain, that this percentage will translate into a figure of €459 billion.

Likewise, the employment expected to be generated by the Silver Economy will be 38% of the total.

The Silver Economy is innovation, cutting-edge technology and a commitment to current generations to provide better conditions and quality of life in all senses and undoubtedly a contribution to leave a better future for new generations.

In addition, there are over 20 million people aged 50+ in Spain (nearly 200 million in the EU) who generate more than 60% of consumption and have the highest spending capacity.

Given these excellent prospects for economic growth, driven by the Silver Economy, the reasons for organising this 1st Euro-American Silver Economy Congress are more than justified, especially in a country like ours, where Spain leads the international ranking for life expectancy. The University of Washington forecasts that Spaniards will have a life expectancy of 85.8 years in 2040, making Spain the country with the highest life expectancy in the world.

We are also organising this Congress to lead the design and planning of solutions, from a public-private perspective, for a new demographic reality that faces new challenges and demands new solutions in areas as strategic in people's lives as in the responsibility of public administrations and private companies, such as: health and well-being, the financing of longevity, new housing models and lifestyles, and tourism.
